We catch up again to our travellers, being greeted by a Russian bear serving vodka as you enter the ‘Podvoriye’ Restaurant in Pavlosk, outside of St. Petersburg. They become totally immersed in Russian life with a night at the ballet, making pickles and sampling homemade vodkas at a Russian Dacha, as well as checking out the nesting storks and other wildlife on a Russian river cruise.
They compare the amount of Vodka sold in Russia with the Ouzo sold in Greece, where Ian finds a market on the island of Tinos that sells Ouzo by the gallon!
Everywhere they travel, they find ‘special drinks’ enjoyed by the new friends they make. They’ve enjoyed Zivania on Cyprus;Schnapps in Germany; Raki in Istanbul; ‘Camargaise’, the Gardian liqueur in the Camargue; Pastis in Provence, as well as Tsipouro, Tsikoudia and Rakomelo on Crete.
